ESCAMBRAY REBELLION

Varied groups of insurgents, including supporters of Batista, rebel against Castro’s government in the Escambray Mountains. They are initially supported by the CIA and Dominican Republic but they are eventually defeated and killed in their thousands by the Cuban Revolution­ary Armed Forces.
