318 out of 330 Polish soldiers are killed in a 24-hour battle against numerically superior Soviet cavalrymen near Lwów. Despite their destruction, the Poles’ last stand halts the Red Army from seizing Lwów. This in turn contributes to the successful defence of Warsaw.
