The North American B-25 Mitchell was a versatile twin-engine bomber capable of low- and high-altitude missions. It was named after William ‘Billy’ Mitchell, who is considered to be the founder of the US Air Force and was an early proponent of air superiorit­y and bomber aircraft as the future of warfare.
