FIRST LIGHTNING
The Soviet Union successfully tests its first atomic bomb, roughly equal in size to the Trinity, the USA’S first bomb. In September President Truman makes this news public. Once the Soviet Union is confirmed to be in possession of the atomic bomb, pressure mounts to develop the first hydrogen bomb.
