CITY UNDER SIEGE
Constantinople is put under siege by relentless Muslim and Balkan campaigns multiple times in its history, but the walls of the city always protect it and the sieges are ultimately unsuccessful. As Byzantine territory waxes and wanes, the ability of Constantinople to resist being taken by force seems the only constant.
