FALL OF BENGHAZI

-

Captured Indian troops are pictured after the fall of Benghazi to Erwin Rommel’s Afrika Korps. Buoyed by the arrival of much-needed tanks, fuel, anti-tank guns and other supplies in Tripoli, Rommel began a fresh offensive to recapture Cyrenaica, Libya, from the Allied 8th Army. Known as his Second Offensive, the Axis attack succeeded in pushing the Allied forces back to the Gazala Line, west of Tobruk.
