Horatio Mcmorris engages a Japanese convoy commanded by Vice Admiral Boshiro Hosogaya, in the north-west Pacific region.
The convoy was en route to resupplying Japanese forces in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Though inconclusive, the engagement prevents the Japanese resupply mission.
