SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS
Emperor Septimius Severus arrives in Britain and strengthens Hadrian’s Wall, before making plans to invade Caledonia and expand the empire north. He dies at Eboracum (York) in 211 CE and is succeeded by his sons Caracalla and
Geta, who are with him on campaign but abandon the plans to invade further north. They take the emperor’s ashes back to Rome.
