To prevent the Warsaw Pact from fracturing, the Soviet Union once again intervenes and defeats a revolt in a member state. As the Red Army cracks down on protesters in Czechoslov­akia, thousands flee the country and settle in Western Europe. Although NATO doesn’t intervene, the events help shape regular large-scale military exercises such as Reforger.
