Cather­ine Ed­dowes, fourth vic­tim of Jack the Rip­per, ap­peared to pre­dict the un­lucky woman who would fol­low her grisly fate. On the night of her mur­der, Ed­dowes was ap­pre­hended by po­lice for pub­lic drunk­en­ness. When re­leased, she gave the po­lice a false name – Mary Ann Kelly. Six weeks later, Mary Jane Kelly was found dead, and her mur­der was be­lieved to also be the work of Jack the Rip­per.
