Our picks for Christmas
A multi-million-pound renovation has given a facelift to the oldest-continually operating theatre in England: the Bristol Old Vic. An offshoot of the Old Vic in London, the theatre complex includes the Theatre Royal, which has been hosting plays since 1766. The renovation includes an interactive journey through the history and heritage of the theatre, a flexible theatre space, and a bar and restaurant. The pinnacle of the project is a glass-fronted atrium, revealing the original theatre façade, which had been hidden from view. The associated theatre school has an impressive cast of alumni, which includes Daniel Day-Lewis and Olivia Colman.
