Pageant for gallivants, 2 July to 8 August

As part of Arbroath 2020+1 celebratio­ns, artist Mandy McIntosh has re-imagined a people’s procession into a multi-location public artwork. Visitors can process from point-to-point safely under their own steam, exploring outdoor installati­ons, pop-up micro-events and geo-located audio. Details at http://scot.sh/pageant

Auchmithie Haar, 10 July times TBC

A special live event for Arbroath20­20+1. Auchmithie Haar group brings Auchmithie’s past back to life through a live history performanc­e taking place at Arbroath harbour fish sheds.

The Heritage Arts Auchmithie Residents – The Haar – is a group of Auchmithie folk, who fifteen years ago, decided to celebrate and keep alive the fishing history and lore of Auchmithie. Details at http://scot.sh/haar

The Galloway Hoard exhibition brings together the richest collection of rare and unique Viking-age objects ever found in Britain or Ireland. Islander: the paintings of Donald Smith, until 26 September

Born in rural Lewis in 1926, Donald John Smith was, as Gray’s School of Art Principal Ian Fleming wrote in 1958, ‘the outstandin­g student of his year… unquestion­ably a man of great ability as an artist’.
