The SNP councillor for Erskine and Inchinnan, Renfrewshire, introduces us to her dog Chewie

Breed? Bichon Frise cross Shih Tzu

Age? Around seven years old

How long have you had him? Five years

Where did you get him? Chewie is a rescue dog. I got him via the charity Any Dog Will Do Rescue. They are a fabulous charity run completely by volunteers who work Scotland wide to give dogs the best outcomes in life. (anydogildorescue.org)

What do you love about him? Seeing him thrive as a normal dog. He has a trauma background and has become so confident in comparison to the boy I brought home.

What special talents does he have? He knows exactly when you need a hug.

What are his most annoying habits? He sits on the TV remote all the time! I think he looks for it…

What’s the worst thing he has done? He managed to get on top of the kitchen counter once. To this day, I have never managed to work out how he achieved this! Thankfully he was ok. He was chuffed he got so close to the food!

Do you think of yourself as a pet parent or pet owner? Pet parent.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you have bought or done for your pet? He gets all the treats – he deserves them.

What’s your first pet or animalrelated memory? My gran and papa’s dogs. I grew up around them.

What was the first pet you ever had? A hamster

What would be your dream pet? I love all the pets I’ve had. I am lucky to be able to give them care and I cherish that.

If you could be any animal what would you be? A hippo – they are strong, underestimated and are survivors!
