About me

I’m Natalie Davies, a stock control administrator, and I live with my partner, Sam, a butcher. Our home is a three-bedroom semi-detached 1930s house in north Wales.

My room...

MY PROBLEM KITCHEN

When we moved in, the kitchen was in a useable condition, but very dated and not really to our taste. The dining area had been used as a second living room by the previous owners so we needed to reconfigure the layout.

HOW I MADE IT WORK

We sectioned the space into zones and built a utility cupboard to house the washing machine. Then we extended the countertop to give us extra workspace, and covered the counter in vinyl. We added panelling to the breakfast bar and painted the units.

MY FAVOURITE PART

I love the colour! We used Green Smoke by Farrow & Ball on the cupboards and the dining room wall, and it gives the space a real sense of drama.

‘We’d never attempted this sort of work before, so a lot of our time was spent learning on the go, with lots of Googling and watching YouTube’
