Mornings are so much easier

When extending her home, Launel Damseaux made room for a large family bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower and double sinks, with enough space for the whole family

About me

I’m Launel Damseaux, 39. I live with my husband, Francois, who owns a carpentry business, and our twin girls, Saranese and Damia, eight. Our home is a three-bedroom house in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. We moved here in 2018.

MY PROBLEM BATHROOM

The toilet was separate to the bathroom, which was really awkward. The dated pink bathroom suite had been there since the 1960s and it just needed ripping out so we could start again.

HOW I MADE IT WORK

We designed a two-storey side extension, which allowed us to create a large family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bath. Francois made bespoke storage pieces to help maximise the space and we finished the look with wood panelling, houseplants and bright accessories for a pop of colour.

MY FAVOURITE PART

It has to be the size of our new bathroom – it’s so spacious compared to what we had before.

‘I love having the free-standing bath right by the window’
