MY EXPERIENCE

Because of our tight budget, getting creative was the only way we were going to be able to transform our kitchen. The dated design needed an overhaul, and although it was useable, I really wanted something that was more ‘us’.

We did a mini makeover to begin with, where we painted the tiles and gave it a freshen up, but the space still didn’t flow particularly well. We couldn’t afford to replace the whole kitchen, so further down the line we tried another makeover. It was all cosmetic, so we didn’t need to do any building work, but it took us about a month as we decided to create the dining area too. We’d never attempted this sort of work before, so a lot of our time was spent learning on the go, with a lot of Googling and watching YouTube.

We wanted the room to be more in keeping with our style – fresh and light, with a bit of a quirky edge. After a lot of hard work, we’re really pleased with the result, especially considering we’ve never done anything like this before. Not only did we pull it off, but the result is better than I’d hoped for.
