MY EXPERIENCE

-

When we bought our home in 2018, the whole house was in dire need of modernising. We inherited a tiny, carpeted bathroom with a vintage pink suite and a separate toilet. It was far too small for the four of us. My husband, Francois, who owns a carpentry company called Wood Works Brighton, undertook the renovations himself with the help of his brother.

We started by extending into the side return to create a large open-plan kitchen below, and a new spacious bathroom above.

The extension doubled the footprint of our existing bathroom. We also knocked down the wall that separated the toilet so we could fit in a roomy walk-in shower. Every morning, Francois would go into work at 6am to build all the cabinetry, then evenings were spent shopping online to find fixtures and fittings at the best price. The bathroom evolved over time, and we made tweaks to the design as we went along to make it work for us.

The bathroom makeover has had such a positive impact on our lives. We spend so much more time in here. It’s made our busy mornings less stressful because we all have space to clean our teeth and get ready before school. The room looks great, and we’re so happy with the end result.
