My bedroom is bold and beautiful

-

Geraldine’s sunny colour choices have given her bedroom a new lease of life

With a can-do attitude, Geraldine Alessi has transformed her boring bedroom into a bold and beautiful boudoir full of warm tones and pattern

About me

I’m Geraldine Alessi, a wedding stationery designer. I live with my husband, Andrew, Head of Technical Operations for Aston Martin F1, and our two daughters, Amelia, nine, Louisa, seven, and Smudge the cat. We live in a five-bedroom detached house in Milton Keynes, which was built in 2011. I like to share my style on Instagram @overatno18.

My room... MY PROBLEM BEDROOM

When we first moved in, the room was basically a magnolia box with absolutely no character at all. The en suite was functional and a good size, but it was brown, really boring and had no interesting features to speak of.

HOW I MADE IT WORK

I grew up in a house where colour and pattern happily clashed, so I knew I’d be adding both in here to inject the personality it desperately needed.

MY FAVOURITE PART

It took a while to get used to the wall colours when I first put on the initial paint, as they were darker than I expected. But adding the white stripe was a game changer and now I absolutely love what we’ve done with the room.

?? ?? ‘Colour is a really important to me and I wanted to create an interesting paint effect in here. The white stripe was originally a mistake as I’d masked up the wall wrongly, but I loved the break it gave the two colours, so I painted the line around the whole room’
