MY STORY

It’s fair to say we’re serial renovators, since this is the fourth house we’ve done up together. It was the hallway that sold this place to me. It had instant wow factor, and I also loved the high ceilings and original features. Although it all felt a bit old-fashioned, it screamed potential, so I couldn’t wait to get started.

We bought the house during lockdown, moved into rented accommodation for 10 weeks and spent the time project managing the work. I had a budget for decorating as Mark loves a spreadsheet and is great at keeping on top of costs.

When we need to reign things in, I’m happy to buy accessories from charity shops or upcycle pieces of furniture. While the sale was going through, I analysed every room, making moodboards, creating 3D visuals and getting samples together, so I knew exactly what needed doing the moment we got the keys.

We stripped everything back to the shell and replastered everywhere, then I gave the decorator my moodboards. I think he thought I was bonkers, but he loved it. Although I know some of my choices were risky, I’ve created a unique home that reflects my happy family.

‘I know it may not be for everybody, but it’s my own personal style and I love it’
