A BIT ABOUT ME

I’m Kim Yates, an interior design student. I live with my husband, Mark, a project manager, and our two children, Ronnie, five, and Remi, two. I’ve recorded our renovation journey on Instagram @miss_mustard_design.

WHERE I LIVE

Our home is a four-bedroom, Victorian semi in Barrowford, Lancashire. We bought it in August 2020 and moved in that November.

WHAT I WANTED TO CHANGE

It had been well looked after and had big rooms, but was dated and tired, and most rooms were beige or magnolia, which really didn’t reflect my outgoing personality.

HOW I MADE IT MY OWN

It didn’t need building work, so I was able to concentrate on the style and design of the rooms from the start, using moodboards and 3D-planning programs to map out my ideas.

MY FAVOURITE PART

Our bed is the absolute star of the show. It was an incredible transformation for such a simple upcycle; we just used a lick of gold paint for a brand-new look.
