Maximise space in a small home

Make the most of the room you have with these tidy tips

-

Use your walls for more than pictures. Install hooks that can hold your bike, bags or coats; try out a living plant wall; hang extra bits of furniture, like fold-up chairs; keep your stash of magazines in racks and install shelves that stretch to the ceiling to make use of every inch of space.

Choose hard-working furniture that does more than one thing. A sofa that turns into a bed; a table that can extend; a bench with hidden storage or a dressing table that functions as a WFH desk will all give you more bang for your buck.

No room for a TV unit? Mount it on the wall or try a pull-down projector instead – perfect for movie nights on the sofa.

For rooms with multiple functions, zone different areas with rugs, curtains, room dividers or different colours.

If you run out of cabinet space, a stylish kitchen trolley will give you extra storage and prep space.
