Three simple tricks to try in your own home

EASY TILE UPDATE

‘I’d fallen in love with some green Moroccan tiles I’d seen, so after priming the tiles, I painted over masking-taped stripes to replicate the look. When I took the tape off, the lines felt way too regimented, when actually, it needed to be a bit imperfect-looking for the style I wanted. So, I decided to try and achieve the effect by roughly hand-painting the edges, and thankfully it worked.’

PANEL DESIGN

‘I wanted to add interest here with something a bit more unusual, so I looked at different styles of wood and thought that dowel rods would work. Andrew took a photo of the room on his phone, and we drew lots of different outlines, shapes and patterns on the picture, until we settled on this design, then we just attached them using the adhesive No More Nails.’

DOOR TRANSFORMATION

‘ The wardrobe doors were originally glass, which I didn’t really like. I wanted to add texture to them, so I bought 800 strips of thin wood, which would normally be used for making boats, from Amazon for £60 and simply attached them with wood glue. Then I used two coats of Zinsser paint, which primes glass really well, and painted over them with this lovely Craig & Rose Châtelaine furniture paint.’

?? ?? ‘Andrew broke our last bed frame, so I replaced it with this gorgeous orange design from Habitat. It looks so fun and it’s quite compact, so we have more space in the room’
