1Lay the fabric on your work surface with the stripes horizontally. Take one corner of the length of fabric and fold down to the other side, creating a 45 degree right-angled triangle. Cut off the triangular piece and set aside. Turn the fabric so that the stripes are running vertically and repeat, cutting off a second right-angled triangle with the stripes running in the other direction to the first. 2

Place the triangular pieces on your cutting mat with angled sides lined up vertically. Measure and cut them into 5cm-wide strips; the lengths will vary as you are cutting on the bias. Keep the strips from each triangle in separate piles as you cut. 3

Take a strip from each pile and place together with right sides facing, matching up the stripes. Pin and then neatly sew in place along one side with a 0.5cm seam allowance. Remove the pins and open out to reveal the first chevron. Continue sewing more strips together to create chevrons, until you have a piece large enough to cover your cushion insert. 4Iron

over the seams, and then cut the edges to create a neat square. Next, cut a piece of white cotton fabric the same size, and pin together with the right sides facing inwards. Neatly sew around three sides with a 1cm seam allowance, then turn the cushion cover the right way out and press. 5Put

the cushion insert inside, and then neatly pin and stitch up the opening.
