Living room

‘ This room was an empty white box when we moved in. I originally painted it a muted purple, but recently changed it to Farrow & Ball’s Down Pipe as I wanted something darker and less vibrant, and it’s a south-facing room so I knew it could take it. I saw the beautiful Emma Bridgewater by Sanderson wallpaper on Instagram, but it was out of print, so I went on eBay every day for two months until I found some. I then got a decorator to put it up as I couldn’t afford to waste a single scrap, as I only found one roll! I don’t like the idea of buying from a catalogue so most of the furniture in here is second-hand or upcycled, which gives the room its unique look.’

‘I got the brass peacock fireguard from eBay. It wasn’t the cheapest buy, and it’s not an antique, but I wanted to buy myself a housewarming present, and I really love the scallop shape it has, a motif that I have running throughout the whole house’ ‘I don’t care where something is from as long as I love it, and I bought these IKEA drawers second-hand and already upcycled with the beautiful new handles added. I picked up the Madam Stoltz vase, normally £50, for a bargain £10. The London map is from HomeSense and the two prints either side are from Fy’ Style idea String festoon bulbs along a wall for an unusual lighting effect
