Small sheet of perspex or glass

1First, make your napkin. Measure and cut out a 30cm square of white cotton or linen fabric. Use an iron to fold and press a 0.5cm double hem all the way round, and then neatly machine stitch along each side. ( You can sew by hand if you don't have a sewing machine, or alternatively use a set of ready-made white cotton napkins.)

2Next, cover your work surface with newspaper, and lay the napkin flat. Apply a little black fabric paint to a sheet of perspex or glass, and use a brayer to roll the paint onto the printing block.

3Start printing the leaves side by side, covering the surface of the napkin. Leave to dry, and then iron over the design to set the paint.
