HOW TO WORKO THIS LOOK
l This glamoroglamorous look is all in the detail. More is definitely more when it comes to architectural elements, such as cornicing, mirrors and ceiling roses. Choose designs that include scrolls, fleurdelys – a classic French lily pattern – and other dramatic flourishes for a grand effect.
l The key to stopping this scheme from feeling overly fussy is to keep to a strict colour palette. We’ve used purples with a touch of pink in this moodboard, but it would be easy to re-create the effect with blue and an accent of teal, or yellows with a hint of peach.
l Choose patterns that reflect dramatic architectural detailing. Vintage-style prints with trailing floral designs create a soft and romantic look. Keep an eye out for traditional French patterns, such as Toiledejouy – linen cloth printed with a repeated scene or florals in a single colour. For a modern effect, keep frills and florals separate.
