BACK TO BLACK
When you’re exposed to light at night or even early morning, your body’s circadian rhythm is thrown off. This can upset the body’s internal clock and the essential sleep-promoting hormone melatonin. If you’re a light sleeper and easily woken by daylight, it’s worth using blinds or curtains with a blackout lining to keep your room dark and cosy. Alternatively, consider fitting shutters, as they can be adjusted to let in as much or as little light as you wish. They’re also a great choice for blocking out excess noise, so if you live near a busy road, they are ideal for keeping your sleep space peaceful.
