It’s long been known that certain scents can make us feel more relaxed and help us drift off to sleep. For example, lavender essential oil can improve sleep quality and allow you to wake up feeling more refreshed. If you’re worried about falling asleep leaving a scented candle alight, consider using a diffuser to fill your room with relaxing fragrance instead. Go for a simple reed diffuser, or try a more sophistica­ted electronic aromathera­py oil diffuser that puffs a fine scented mist into your room at timed intervals. Alternativ­ely, consider using a scented pillow spray to spritz your bed linen before you go to bed. A warm bath before bed will also help you to unwind, so consider adding a soak with sleepinduc­ing essential oils to your water. Look for ones containing lavender, neroli, ylang ylang or chamomile for the ultimate in sleep-boosting scents.
