I've transformed our living room WITH RICH, WARM COLOURS
By keeping the key pieces classic, Jamila Alhassan has created a stylish, versatile space that will stand the test of time
About me
I’m Jamila Alhassan, an account manager for a conference and exhibition centre. I live with my fiancé, Michael Bray, a retail assistant manager. Our home is a three-bed, 1930s semi in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. I keep a record of our renovation on Instagram @prosecco_lifestyle
My room... MY PROBLEM LIVING ROOM
It was looking a bit tired and beige. The lining paper was holding together some very old plaster and the off-white blinds were broken and rusty.
HOW I MADE IT WORK
We started by painting a blue feature wall but kept the rest white. We added warm colours through accessories and soft furnishings so the room will be easy to change in future. I shopped around a lot to get everything for the best possible price.
MY FAVOURITE PART
Replacing the bay window and getting new blinds has really elevated the room. The rich dark wood adds so much character.
