Monochrome

Black and white schemes are design classics and they’re great if you’re not confident about combining colours in a room. Keep walls white, which will in turn help your room to feel larger and brighter. Dark polished floors are the perfect foil for pristine white walls and give a sense of depth to the room. Keep window treatments unfussy – eyelet or tab top curtains, or simple blinds all work well. A large ivory rug is an easy to live with alternative to a carpet and will help create a focal point for you to stage your furniture around. Choose furniture and accessories with bold shapes that stand out against a white backdrop. Look for sculptural lamps and vases and add shelving and occasional tables with strong linear designs.
