A BIT ABOUT ME

I’m Hester van Overbeek, a DIY author and YouTuber @hestershandmadehome. I also run Wilds, a magazine all about kids, crafts and the great outdoors. I live with my partner, Ian, our four-year-old daughter, Kiki, and our dog, Kermit.

WHERE I LIVE

I live in the centre of Ramsgate in a four-bed Victorian end-terrace. We bought the house seven years ago.

WHAT I WANTED TO CHANGE

Everythingfl We worked from the bottom floor all the way to the top, starting with removing the dividing wall downstairs to create one big space and replacing the floor. The rest of the changes have all been cosmetic.

HOW I MADE IT MY OWN

I added a bit of fun to the place. My style is very much Scandi with a Dutch twist. The twist being all the colour.

MY FAVOURITE PART

Without a doubt, the wardrobe I built in the master bedroom. It’s my most ambitious DIY to date, finding and fitting all the reclaimed doors, but it worked out so well.
