Set the scene for a staycation and spend your days in the sunshine with a Mediterranean-inspired look
Trips away are still off the table for many of us this year, but this look brings the best of the Med home for you to enjoy. The scheme is based around the key colours of Greek villages – blue and white – enhanced with the juicy hues of ripe fruits. Add in cherry red, lemon yellow and zesty orange to make this look really pop. This season also sees the return of a 1980s trend: rag-rolled or sponged walls. After much over-use, it fell out of favour but this super-effective painting technique creates an Instagram-friendly distressed look. Bring this trend up to date by avoiding orange tones on the walls and instead opting for very pale pink, green or blue. You can also try textured or digitally printed wallpaper instead. Accessorise the look with shapes inspired by ancient Greek or Roman ceramics. Look out for double-handled vases, wide serving bowls (perfect for BBQsfl) and anything terracotta. Ridged, column-like finishes on furniture and classical busts will create big Parthenon energy. Then finish up with plenty of foliage, such as Mediterranean herbs.
