A PIECE OF HOME
‘I’ve always loved bright colours and that’s reflected in my wardrobe, too. The current trend for folk art in Poland inspired me to get this traditional design printed onto canvas. Some of my kitchen accessories were handed down from my grandma, and it’s lovely to have a piece of home in our house. Although I’m happy to shop on the high street, having some vintage accessories gives the space personality.’
CLEVER DESIGN
‘When we designed this space, we incorporated a sliding door to separate the utility, not only as a space-saving device, but also to complement the industrial feel of the shelves and black handles on the kitchen cabinets. Piotr made the wall shelf out of spare bits of wood, which gives me extra storage, perfect for growing herbs. It also helps keeps the floor free of clutter.’
BE BUDGET SAVVY
‘After we had finished the build, I was left to decorate the kitchen on a tiny budget. I spotted these tiles on the B&Q website, and at around £14 per sq m, I assumed they would look cheap. But when the sample arrived, the quality was great and the colour really complemented the rest of my accessories, so it felt like a real win. It made me realise things don’t necessarily have to be expensive to look good.’
