Kitchen-diner
‘ The original kitchen was very dark and chopped in half by a strange section that stuck out and made the kitchen area far too small. Plus, the units were old-fashioned and falling apart. So, we extended outwards into the garden and brought in more light with a lantern window in the new part of the roof. Once we had removed the units, we could start again. I love mixing old and new, and we’d saved a dresser from our old house, plus a reasonably new range cooker, our aqua Smeg fridge-freezer and trusty vintage table and chairs. We built the kitchen around the recycled pieces and splashed out on new units, worktop and flooring, putting a large island in the middle of the room. I absolutely love the quartz worktop by Caesarstone as it looks like marble but is really easy to clean and totally heat-resistant. It’s great for taking shots of my products for my Instagram, @katie_alice_official.’
‘We loved the quieter location, the number of bedrooms and the possibility of creating a kitchen-diner’
