Stencil walls

Paint a room to create the illusion of wallpaper, just like Katie

-

Make your own stencil with tracing paper. If you’re painting small details, like leaves on a big surface, go for a piece with several cut-out sections, all slightly different shapes so you can choose to vary the pattern if you want to.

Choose a base colour to cover all the walls first, something that the stencilled section will show up against clearly.

Once the walls are dry, draw out your stencils on the wall in pencil so you have a good idea of how many designs there are and how close together they should be.

Choose the colours you want to use. Katie selected a series of blue sample paint pots to create her leaves, rather than buying a big pot that she didn’t need. It’s also an opportunity to bring in several colours at once.

Remember to have a ladder handy to reach the tops of the walls.
