WHAT I LEARNED...

-

Accept help from friends and familyfl My dad, Stan, did all the wallpapering and assisted with DIY jobs while my mum, Pat, brought me all her pattern books for wallpaper and fabrics.

Try to have a vision of how a room will look before you start. We love to mix old and new, but it’s a delicate process.

Check your timings so you can manage your expectations. We had a long delay to the kitchen because we had to wait for the screed to dry before we could lay the floor. It took a few weeks longer than we had hoped and it nearly broke us at one point, to be honest. This meant that the kitchen couldn’t be fitted until the floor was laid.
