Ruth painted one wall in Farrow & Ball’s Down Pipe and spent some time renovating the fireplace to its former glory before ordering a bespoke fire surround from Fires and Surrounds. ‘We don’t actually use it as a fire, as the central heating in there is very efficient and it’s a small room, but it’s lovely to have it as a focal point.’ The couple worked hard to refurbish the floor, sanding it and using Osmo white wax to achieve a rustic look. They invested in good-quality furniture that will last, including an oak sideboard and shelving from Konk, made to their specifications.
