MY EXPERIENCE

-

This room used to be one of the bedrooms. The original main bathroom was a little bit dated and small for our family, so we chose to convert the second bedroom into a spacious suite. We ripped everything out of the room, including the water tank boiler, and moved one of the walls back slightly to create more room. It took us a while to figure out the layout for the best and most practical use of space, but once we had settled on a floorplan, we got the plumbers in to start installing the drainage.

We actually had a good idea of what we wanted this room to look like way before our purchase of the property was complete. We had seen pictures on Pinterest and interiors magazines, so we had plenty of ideas – it was just a matter of figuring out the details.

The bath is what ended up inspiring the whole scheme – once we had decided it was the one we wanted, we started matching everything, including the black shower head, the taps and even the grout for the tiles; when they eventually went down, it changed the entire aesthetic and personality of the room. We could finally start to see how it was going to look when it was finished, and we were very pleased. We were also, admittedly, a little worried once the tiles had been laid that maybe it was a little too edgy, but whenever we came to visit the property (we renovated before moving in) we fell in love with the bathroom more and more and we just knew that it was the right choice.

The room isn’t quite finished yet – it needs new windows for improved privacy, as it’s at the front of the house – but it has already changed our lives for the better. It’s so nice to have a beautiful space to bathe our girls and get them ready for bed.

And, when it’s dark outside, the room is such a relaxing place to be, especially when I’ve got the candles going.
