A BIT ABOUT ME

I’m Rebecca Rutland, 35, a hairdresser. I live with my husband, Lee, 39, an engineer, and our two children. You can see more of my house on Instagram @tools.tears.and.tantrums.

WHERE I LIVE

Our home is a three-bedroom semidetached house in Chelmsford, Essex. We moved here in February 2016.

WHAT I WANTED TO CHANGE

The house was barely liveable when we bought it and it was overwhelming to know where to start as each room needed doing. We wanted to turn it into a family home.

HOW I MADE IT MY OWN

The biggest undertaking was knocking out the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create a bigger space, and we also turned our dining room window into double French doors and bricked up the old back door.

MY FAVOURITE PART

It’s really tough to say, as I love each part of the house for different reasons. Our bedroom is so cosy and is a real sanctuary, but I also love the kitchen as it’s the most used and lively space in our home.
