A BIT ABOUT ME

I’m Katie Baldock and I work for the

Met Office. I live with my husband, David, who works for the local water company, and our two children, Lydia, five, and Madeleine, who is three.

WHERE I LIVE

We live in Exeter, Devon. Our home is a four-bed new-build and we moved here in January 2021 as the first owners of the house.

WHAT I WANTED TO CHANGE

I never imagined living in a new-build as I thought they were cold and lacking in personality, so my challenge was to prove myself wrong and add charm and character.

HOW I MADE IT MY OWN

I know it’s a popular choice, but panelling has been a really effective way to add warmth and texture. A monochrome palette with a green base and some pops of pink, warmed up with wooden accessories, has created a cosy space in every room.

MY FAVOURITE PART

Our en suite. I’ve made my boldest choices in there, using a dark green on the walls and upcycling a secondhand sideboard into a vanity unit.
