Dining area

‘ The dining area was a big space, so it needed some texture and interest adding to the white walls. I also wanted it to feel distinct from the kitchen, so I decided to zone the area with panelling. I used SketchUp, a 3D design program, to model the space so that I could see what it would look like before I began the actual work, as I wanted to decorate the space myself. The final design included wrapping the panelling around the area to make it feel more intimate. It was tricky getting the cuts right and the whole job took about two and half weeks as I could only do it during stolen hours in the evenings because of work and the kids. I did mess up a few times, but I learned a lot of lessons, which helped when it came to decorating the rest of the house.’
