‘I love dressing my home for Christmas!’

‘ This room initially epitomised the dull, box-like shape of new-builds and lacked a focal point, so we decided to install a false fireplace. After totting up the price of buying free-standing storage furniture, such as a sideboard and drawers, we realised it was more cost-effective to commission built-in units and shelves for the alcoves. I drew our design on SketchUp, as I had in the kitchen, and I included Shaker-style cupboard fronts and panelling to complement the rest of the house. I then colourdrenched the whole room in Little Greene’s Windmill Lane, which brings it bang up to date.’

?? ?? ‘My favourite colour is green – teaming it with a monochrome scheme has injected a touch of drama but still allows the room to feel sophisticated and calm. The sofa is from Oak Furnitureland and has the nod to mid-century furniture that I love. The pink herringbone blanket is from The British Blanket Company, while the pre-lit Christmas tree is from Next and all the wrapping paper is from Matalan’
