-

Build cost £60,000 Size 124m² Location East Sussex Build time Six years Jude Hesselgrave and Roger Page built and added to their log cabin self-build over the course of several years to keep costs to a minimum. The pair also carried out much of the DIY themselves. The house has evolved with them, with extra sections added as they found they needed the space. The house itself is a capacious family home that sits well within its farmland setting.

The house was then clad in larch timber. It was also built to a tight budget of £250,000 without compromising on highquality materials and finishes.

Build cost £550,000 Size 398m2 Location Yorkshire Build time 15 months Jo and Charles van Berckel have replaced an old bungalow with a striking new home, designed with their son’s disability in mind. The singlestorey design was constructed using a timber frame, with a large steel frame forming the large vaulted main living space. Externally, the house features metal deck roofing, grey render and cedar cladding, which work together to create a design that is modern yet sympathetic to its surroundings.
