The Segals from East Sussex built an eco-friendly four bedroom family home ( above) on the edge of the South Downs. At the heart of the home is the Nibe heat pump system, with the couple opting for a F1145 8kw GSHP. The electricity used to run this is largely offset by the 4kw solar panels on the roof, which generate over 4,000 kwh per annum. “I believe that all new build homes should have a Building Regulation obligation to incorporate renewable energy systems wherever possible,” says Mark Segal. “I am still amazed by how the GSHP works so perfectly in keeping the family warm, whatever the weather.”
