Homebuilding & Renovating

Heavy duty hero

From cleaning away mud and builders’ dust to removing rainwater in a half-completed extension, all of Kärcher’s Wet and Dry vacuum cleaners are strong and robust enough for the job — with a model to suit your needs

Whether you’re living through an extension or replacing a kitchen there’s one thing for sure: there will be dust and mess, and lots of it. Originally designed as a sturdy workhorse for the trades, the Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner is now a firm favourite among self-builders and renovators.

That’s because for heavy duty jobs, a regular indoor vacuum cleaner just won’t cope — unlike a Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner from the Kärcher range. The Kärcher Wet & Dry (WD) vacuum cleaner range allows dry or sludgy materials such as builders’ dust, mud and rough debris to be sucked up, as well as wet spills of liquid — all without having to change the filter. Plus there’s onboard storage which means you don’t have to store (or try and find!) the accessories when you need them.

A CLEAN AND TIDY SITE

Mess during a home renovation is no joke. And if you’re planning to live in the property during works you’ll need to stop dust and other irritants wafting into your living quarters. Plus it’s far better (and cheaper) for you to keep the area clean and dust free, allowing the trades to get on with their work.

The Kärcher WD vacuum cleaner range can be used to clean up the mess left by the trades. And when they’re long gone, the WD vacuum cleaners can be used for DIY and garden projects, and the WD 6 for use with power tools in the garage.

CHOOSING YOUR WET & DRY VACUUM

Choosing the right WD vacuum cleaner comes down to a number of factors, with quality and reputation of the brand one of the most important.

Any of the WD vacuum cleaners in Kärcher’s range are ideally suited to renovators and DIY enthusiasts. The WD 6, shown below, has a 1300w motor that is designed to offer great suction power, whisking debris and liquid away into a robust stainless steel 30-litre container. It’s easy to move around, as it’s on five castors. And with a noise level below 75db, the WD 6 can be used comfortably without ear defenders.

SWITCHING BETWEEN WET AND DRY

A built-in filter system allows all of the WD vacuum cleaners in the Kärcher range to move seamlessly between wet and dry pick up tasks. And when the filter needs cleaning on the WD 5 and 6 models, simply press a button to automatically remove dirt from the filter and restore suction power back to maximum.

Most of the WD vacuum cleaner range comes with several other handy features, including a blower function to dislodge dust from hard-to-reach corners and deal with autumn leaves, and easy-to-change floor tools. And all of the Kärcher WD vacuum cleaners are designed with quality and durability in mind, so that they will keep performing at their best, whatever mess and debris comes their way.
