MAISONS ET ANTIQUITÉS
Aquick Google of the phrase ‘ get the French look’ will bring you hundreds of thousands of results dedicated to fashion and beauty, but surprisingly li!le to interiors. Surely the French home, o"en with its nod to the country’s rich history and that oh-so e ortless manner the nation exudes, is among the most inspiring and coveted of interiors styles? So, this month, we are celebrating our neighbour’s contribution to interiors and antiques. From our take on the provincial French home (p40), to the country’s best brocantes (p149), plus a boho apartment in Bordeaux, we’ve plenty to inspire Francophiles this issue. We also have tours of stunning homes for you back on British soil – all of which have an accomplished, timeless feel (from page 55). I especially love the blend of design classics and 18thcentury architecture in the Cornish farmhouse on page 56. On the subject of design classics, we tell the story of the Anglepoise lamp on page 111 – did you know it was created by a British car engineer? I was also thrilled to read about the upcoming exhibition at Strawberry Hill House, for which a team of curators has been working tirelessly to hunt down as much of its former collections as possible. Read the full story on page 140.
