DRESSED TO IMPRESS
Good food and the company of friends and family. For me – and I suspect for many of you – that’s what Christmas is all about. As such, the dinner table is the centre of festivities at the Sherwood house, and I can easily spend as much time decorating its surface as I do the tree. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring out your best china and make creative centrepieces of
your favourite antiques. We have created seven beautiful tablescapes to inspire your own dinner sellings and ensure your table is dressed to impress on 25th December! Take a look from page 38. Another important festive decorating spot for many is the front door, where a welcoming wreath is a must. But have you ever wondered why we add a ring of foliage to our doors at this time of year? It’s fascinating to learn how far back the tradition goes, along with the histories of the other decorations that make Christmas on page 95. Equally fascinating are our homes this month, which vary from an opulent apartment that survived the Bristol Blitz (p70), to a sweet Victorian terrace that is "lled with vintage treasures (p60). Discover their wonderful stories and be inspired by their charming Christmas displays from page 51. From everyone here on the H&A team, we wish you a joyful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
