Fairs to have on your radar
Although all fairs and auctions could be seen as good hunting grounds for collectors, specialist fairs, focused around narrow areas of collecting, are great places to find the widest range of similar pieces at different price points. These events are excellent opportunities for collectors who are new to a field to increase their knowledge and forge those all-important relationships with dealers.
London International Antiquarian Book Fair Run by the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association, this is just one of a number of book fairs held around the country. 20th–21st May. pbfa.org FIRSTS: London’s Rare Book Fair
Held at the Saatchi Gallery, this is one of the most prestigious rare book fairs in the world. 18th–21st May. firstslondon.com
London Map Fair Established in 1980, this remains the largest fair dedicated to maps in Europe, with around 40 leading dealers. 10th–11th June. londonmapfairs.com
Tribal Art London A must for anyone interested in tribal arts, from sculpture to textiles and everything in between. tribalartlondon.com The London Antique Rug & Textile Art Fair (LARTA) Small but perfectly formed gathering of experts, held upstairs at The Decorative Fair’s winter edition.
