I am writing this having just heard about a major loss to British design.
This September, Ruth Aram passed away. A true friend of this magazine, Ruth was a champion of contemporary style and, along with her father and brother with whom she ran Aram Store, she made the UK scene the creative place it is today. A walk around the Covent Garden shop with her was not simply a chance to discover new pieces, but an incredible opportunity to hear her insight and see beyond the product. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
I hope you find creative inspiration in this month’s issue. The most rewarding part of our job is the chance to showcase the work of talented people, so we’re delighted to reveal the winners of the Homes & Gardens Fabric Awards on page 90. Meanwhile, the interior designers behind our gorgeous house stories and Dream Room case studies are the force of this title, and we are planning to make more of their involvement in issues to come. And I’m sure you find The Natural Palette decorating story by stylist Ali Brown on page 61 as beautiful as I do. Ali’s rooms succeed in looking both tailored and effortless at the same time, and I have already pinned a couple of her images to my own mood boards. People aside, perhaps the most exciting news of all this month is our partnership with Ownable. We’ve linked up with this innovative new brand in order to enhance your reader experience. Using the Ownable app, you can shop for products from the pages of this magazine in one go (and at the best price). Please let us know what you think.
