Colourful Climbers

Create walls of colour with leafy climbers that spiral skyward, taking up very little ground space. Choose a Virginia creeper, with its sizzling scarlet leaves, or a crimson glory vine, which lives up to its name at this time of year. Use their sprawling stems of vibrant foliage to scramble over walls, fences, pergolas and arches. Ivy is another good choice, creating a year-round textured green surface, while its small yellow autumn flowers offer invaluable nectar for bees and other pollinating insects.
